The Adventures of Mirt Continue…
20th January, 2016
For Immediate Release
TORONTO—The Office of Ed Greenwood is pleased to announce that Ed Greenwood, The Archmage, will be writing a brand new series of linked novellas and adventures featuring Mirt, the very first character in the Forgotten Realms®. This annual two-volume set will be published by The Ed Greenwood Group, supported by Onder Broadcasting and made available to the public via Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeon Master’s Guild program and OneBookshelf, their designated distributor.
Greenwood on Mirt
Mirt is a stout, gruff, wheezing old physical wreck of a man, now centuries old. Once, he was an intrepid and very fortunate young adventurer; he and his friend Durnan (later the proprietor of the infamous Yawning Portal in Waterdeep) sought their fortunes together in the Sword Coast North. Striking it rich, they parted ways as Durnan settled down to have a family, and Mirt became Mirt the Merciless, captain of his own mercenary company. He retired from that when his swordarm grew too slow, his body tired of days and nights spent in the saddle, and his brain soured of being swindled by unscrupulous rulers. So he became the soon-infamous Mirt the Moneylender, working his own swindles up and down the Sword Coast, traveling constantly to stay ahead of creditors, rivals, and the local authorities. Until he eventually settled down, became a Lord of Waterdeep, and fell afoul of some hostile magic that kept him imprisoned (but alive) during the Spellplague. Freed some years back, he aided Elminster of Shadowdale in adventures in Cormyr and Waterdeep, but found himself a fish out of water in a much changed Realms. Still ridden by his wanderlust, he decides to become a traveling merchant, wandering the Realms and seeing if his wits and what he knows of ancient and hidden gates (magical portals) could be put to some use, and enjoying a life free of obligations.
But not, as he is to rediscover the hard way, free of adventure…
Greenwood on the Realms…
The Realms is a very big place, and over the years many corners and facets of it have been neglected because published Realmslore could only get to so many places and cover so much. This is a chance to discover those neglected corners with me!
I am incredibly grateful to Wizards of the Coast for opening up the sandbox that is the Realms for us all, to encourage everyone who wants to create in the Realms. This is now truly the shared world I hoped it would become fifty years ago!
Ed Greenwood, creator of the Forgotten Realms® and a myriad of other worlds, universes, and shared settings, is the New York Times best-selling author of literally thousands of works that have sold over a quarter billion units (250,000,000) in a dazzling array of formats in over 40 languages in more than 120 countries.

TEGG and Wonderthing Studios to form TEGG Audio & Music
TORONTO & SPRING HILL, TN—The Ed Greenwood Group (TEGG) and Wonderthing Studios (WTS) are pleased to announce the formation of TEGG Audio & Music. Editorial director Dave Robison of The Roundtable Podcast fame will lead his League of Extraordinary Audiographers, and the TEGG partners and licensees, to expand the TEGG Experience into the worlds of audio entertainment. From word-by-word readings to original plays and multicast works to soundtracks and songs based in the TEGG settings Robison’s new department will add a new and rich dimension to TEGGs offerings.
In addition to his years as a podcaster, Dave Robison has trod the boards as a professional actor, led the editorial team for an online magazine, written and produced over 40 hours of audio drama, and narrated audiobooks and short audio fiction. Robison’s proven leadership and mentoring skills, matched with his Wonderthing Studios network, will help build a solid TEGG audio production program bringing both high standards of quality and solid entertainment for fans and TEGG Creatives alike. “I have been an advocate of creative collaboration for years,” says Robison. “Ed Greenwood is a master storyteller and his vision for readers, gamers and his Sessorium of Creatives is inspiring. I’m deeply honored to be a part of the community of creatives who are making it a reality.”
The production of audio editions for TEGG novels is exciting but Greenwood is even more excited by the idea of brand new original audio productions and music set in his settings, “This partnership is going to be very cool…In just the few creative chats I’ve had with Dave and his delightful wife Teri I think the fans are going to be blown away by what the Robisons are planning to do for them.” Likewise Greenwood is pleased that his Creatives get to expand their repertoires, “Many of my novelists are thrilled at the idea of being able to continue their stories in multiple formats; especially audio…they are already forming groups to discuss new adventures that will start as original audio works. It’s like a painter being given a whole new set of colours to paint with and then adding music. This partnership is very exciting.” Robison adds, ““It feels like everything I’ve done these past years has been leading up to this opportunity. I know I’m not alone in my intent to seize it and blaze some new paths into the frontier of collaborative storytelling.”
The Ed Greenwood Group, a new transmedia publishing company from the creator of the Forgotten Realms®, launches 31st October, 2015. The first novel, Your World Is Doomed! is a brand-new Ed Greenwood title and the first novel in a new urban fantasy setting called Hellmaw—6 story arcs, 85 novels, more than 150 short works plus games and Artifacts. Next year (2016) will see the launch of a more traditional sword-and-sorcery setting code-named Pony Island Adventures; novels based in the universe created for the board game Folklore: The Affliction and Quickblade Games—TEGG’s role playing and mini game division headed by the redoubtable Steven E. Schend. More settings in more genres will follow over the next ten years—For Wolf & Empire (steampunk), Lost Princesses of Mars (space opera), and In So Deep (sex fantasy), to name only a few.
